This past Sunday, our Lead Pastor, Ben Johnson, preached a message entitled “From Decision to Disciple.” Drawing from Matthew 28:16 - 20, Pastor Ben reminded us that while becoming a Christian happens in a moment, becoming a disciple is a lifelong journey of knowing, obeying and following Jesus. He emphasized that true discipleship begins with personally knowing Jesus, continues through faithfully obeying His commands, and overflows into inviting others to follow Him as well. Pastor Ben encouraged us to live with confidence in Christ’s authority and comfort in His presence, knowing that He is with us always as we walk out His Great Commission together.

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. ⭑ YOU BECOME A CHRISTIAN IN A MOMENT, BUT YOU BECOME​ A DISCIPLE OVER A LIFETIME​

1. KNOWS JESUS PERSONALLY​
“Go make disciples of all nations.” (vs 19) ​

9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.​
10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.​ Romans 10:9-10​

“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”​ Ephesians 1:17 ​

“I am the good shepherd; I know my​ sheep and my sheep know me.”​ John 10:14 ​

2. OBEYS JESUS FAITHFULLY​
“baptizing them in the name of the Father​
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (vs 19)​

“…and teaching them to obey everything​
I have commanded you.” (vs 20)

3. INVITES OTHERS TO​ FOLLOW JESUS TOGETHER
“Go and make disciples of all nations.” (vs 19)​

⭑ WE HAVE HIS AUTHORITY - POWER​
“All authority in heaven and on earth​ has been given to Me.” (vs 18)​

⭑  ​WE HAVE HIS AVAILABILITY - PRESENCE​
​“And surely I am with you always, to the​ very end of the age.” (vs 20)​
